Just noticed…
sometimes my own rants get posted on this, the band blog. Oops, its hard to remember to switch to my blog sometimes. Oh well, we’re all connected etc…
Great video…great song. Loving the Cribs new stuff right now
Nice to see the tracks are starting to get online. First up, the distribution we are using, RouteNote, have got the tracks on their store. The store can be found here: http://routenote.com/r/therevival, it’s a bit slow at loading up the track pages but its worth the wait.
Can’t wait for the iTunes, Spotify, Amazon etc release. Big push when that happens.
Great work Ryan. Massive thanks courtesy of Dr Marigold Fox, this push is great and a true signal of intent and love for the music we are making.
Keep the faith 2012.

This morning’s listening pleasure provided by this album. Gonna listen to a lot of WT this weekend, in that kinda mind frame. I remember the first time I truly started to dig this album, December 2007 when I was in London for a month. I bought it in January 2007 but maybe it was a bit early for me, as I hadn’t heard Strangers Almanac properly yet. Had a few nights in alone in London around the time and each track was as beautiful as the next, and the lyrics in particular struck a chord, as do most of RA’s early lyrics. Always skip the non-RA tunes on this album (theres 2 or 3), but the rest of it is really amazing.
Here’s a quick run down of what went down in the studio today:
Supercollider - This sounded really massive, the bass and drums are really BIG. It really does sound seamless. Have a great deal of difficulty singing it as a lot of it is quite high pitched, so I was trying to sing it softer so I could reach the high notes, but also not too soft coz I didnt want to lose out on the rasping quality my voice makes when I shout. Was really tough to balance this and I think we just managed to get there. Phew
Fade Out - Of all the tracks I did today, this was my highlight. Recorded it first, and again, had difficulty with the shouty “Fade out…” bits at the end…finally managed it (with a bit of autotuning!) and it sounds massive. Re-did the verses right at the end coz i wanted to sing it softer. Sounds really great.
Helpless - Did listen to this one through at the end, but I sang it all quite softly and I think it will sound good.
She Blows My Mind - This sounds really great. Got vocal done on the first take…did Ryans harmonies staright after. Added handclaps in the outro too, came up with it on the spot. Sounds mega.
Anyone But Me - Again nailed it on first take. Sounds really garage rock which is great…solo sounds good too.
Sometimes: Very happy with how this turned out too, Nick did a great job on the instruments. Took a while to get the high notes right in the chorus but overall this came out better than expected
